D20 System Games The D20 Lines

Atlas Games has two distinct D20 lines already...and some upcoming products that are outside of either.

PENUMBRA is our flagship D20 system line. These products are really aimed of the 3rd edition of that game everyone knows. The idea is to provide a toolbox of useful bits for players and GMs, easily adaptable to a wide variety of campaigns and settings. Thus, we avoid adventures that require a very detailed and specific world history (a good example is The Tide of Years, which essentially takes the PCs out of their usual place and time -- the lost civilization of Lagueen doesn't have to have any long-term effect on the game world, unless the GM consciously chooses to let it); and we try to make sourcebooks that a GM can easily take apart and use bit by bit as suits her campaign (in Touched by the Gods, you can pick and choose which cults to introduce to your world...or you could simply grab crunchy bits like prestige classes and new magic items).

CORIOLIS is our crossover line. These are products designed for D20 *and* one of our other RPGs. The example on the market already is "Burning Shaolin," an wuxia adventure for both Feng Shui and D20, set in fantasy China. In 2002, we have plans to release two more Coriolis books: Ascension of the Magdalene (for Unknown Armies and D20) and The Black Monks of Glastonbury (for Ars Magica and D20). The former is firmly on the schedule -- in fact, Scott's working on layout right now, and we hope to ship it to distributors worldwide in late February.

Finally, we have some standalone D20 products in the works, books that don't fit the brands of Penumbra and Coriolis. The first of them will be NYAMBE: AFRICAN ADVENTURES -- a huge sourcebook describing an Africa-like continent full of cultures, perils, new classes, magic...the whole shebang. For a preview of Nyambe, you can visit www.nyambe.com and download a draft of part of the book -- originally released to the web as the "player's lorebook." All this material and a lot more will appear in the hardcover sometime this summer.

So anyhow -- this folder is for discussion of Penumbra, Coriolis, and everything else we do in the D20 department.

John, have you ever considered another line, crossing over Atlas RPGs? I think an AM-UA advneture would rock on toast. However, that may just cannibalize the market.

AM, FS, and UA variants of OUAT would be interesting, too.

Very interesting indeed.
