The cover and a sample chapter of Splintered Peace, the next D20 book due out from Atlas, are now available on the Atlas Games website. Anyone taken a look at them? Any comments or opinions?

I've seen them, and I really like the cover. Can't really comment on the sample chapter, due to conflict of interest.

Anyone *not* involved with the production of the book got any comments?

Strictly speaking, all I did during production of this book was cheer on the development of the cover and the wonderful map on the endpapers (by the famous Fraim Brothers), so I can comment on how great the book is. Oh, and then I marketed the book. Or ... am marketing it right now. So I am full of happy bias, too. Anyway, I like it.

Very interesting; I like the idea of race relations playing a part in fantasy. (IIRC, in Glen Cook's Garrett series, after a long war ended a lot of humans came home and started to complain about all the non-humans who had "taken away the jobs".)

My current campaign involves a war against a somewhat xenophobic city of humans that have been doing a lot of sea raiding - admittedly against pretty much everyone - and following that the players will have the unenviable task of keeping the peace there.

So while I don't know if I'll be able to use Splintered Peace directly, I'll be very interested in picking it up. Maybe if the modifications are easy to make, I can put the city of Splintered Peace elsewhere in my world.

I'm very excited to see this type of product hit the shelves. While it's a scenario/sourcebook, the ruleset looks sound and to me at least, more importantly, it hits some areas not really touched by previous books. I tend to find that I enjoy Atlas when they're doing sourcebooks, and enjoy the hardcovers more than the softcovers ala Occult Lore vs. Seven Cities, both great books but I prefer the former over the latter. I'll be very interested to see how I can tie this into my SL campaign.

And I hear from Atlas that the book is back from the printer and is shipping now.

We've all heard for years how adventures sell worse than sourcebooks, and more recently about how the D20 adventure market seems to be bottoming out. It will be interesting to see how an adventure/sourcebook crossbreed does.

Great! I hope you like the actual book as well. I believe it has now shipped to distributors, so it should reach all good gaming stores soon.

Thank you. That was a large part of what I was aiming for.

Scarred Lands? I'm not familiar with the setting, so I'm not sure, but it should drop easily into anything that's fairly standard D20.

Splintered Peace just arrived here, and it's lovely. Nice work, folks.

(BTW, David, Michelle says I have to slip her and Scott a hundred bucks each if I want a book as nice as yours. Is that fair, I ask you? Is that fair?) <grin>
