Feng Shui Melee weapon schticks

Golden comeback introduces the notion of melee weapon schticks equivalent to the gun schticks. I have 2 questions about these:
-do you count them separately from gun schticks when buying them with xp? e.g. a karate cop with 2 gun schticks wants to buy 1 melee weapon schtick, how many xp does he need?
-how do you mix them up with the use of Fu schticks? For instance, can you use Both guns blazing with hands without shadow, Eagle eye with the unyielding tiger stance, or fast draw with Coil of the snake?

It has not cropped up yet in my game, but I am thinking of using it for an NPC and I want to get it right in case the players are interested by the idea.

I tend to think the two types of schtick (Fu and Sword) represent different approaches, and generally any character should only follow one of them. On the other hand, if you want to mix them you probably want to sort out that the two types don't stack. I think some of the conditions on the schticks are contradictory; for example the standard Fast Draw schtick requires your first action to be something to do with your gun (swords), whereas Fu-based initiative modifiers might specify something else (I can't remember off the top of my head).

For XP purposes I'd call it a separate category. However, in Golden Comeback it says an auxiliary schtick is anything other than a gun, fu, scorcery, creature or arcanowave schtick. This implies that sword schticks (and unique ones) count. However, this is probably just a minor inconsistency in the book as the sword schticks come from a completely different section.
