D20 System Games Odd question for Will Hindmarch

Will-san,

Read today's blog, and am of course psyched to see LAST HERO IN SCANDINAVIA is coming along well. But there's something I've been trying to remember, and it's driving me crazy because my manuscript is now locked up in the Dead Laptop and I can't look it up for myself. Since you've read the book recently, I'm hoping you know this, because it's been months and I can't dredge it up.

So, the question is, "In the big fight scene that opens the campaign, is the village being attacked by 3 dozen or 5 dozen goblins?"

cheers,

I can answer this (though it sounds like a pretty blatant troll on the part of the author for discussion about his book *grin*)

There are actually 60 screaming goblins in the opening combat scene ... that would be five dozen. And for those of you at home: yes, we provide mass combat rules for Rune and for d20 to deal with this overabundance of slavering monsters.

Well, the question was serious -- it really has been bugging me. Asking in public instead of emailing you or Will? That just might be a blatant troll. :)

That's actually a relief. We found out the hard way in playtest that 120 screaming goblins was too darn many, but I was worried that I had over-compensated. 5 dozen still feels about right.

And we won't mention how many bad guys are in the big finish.

Because nobody would believe us.

Not that I'm teasing or anything.
