I'm wandering what other art would be involved in dicovering a new art to affect time. Would it be all techniques or none? In ars magica of course... and using the wizard's grimoire rules...

What do yo think?

Probably Vim, with perhaps a Requisite in every Form...

I'd make it an exceptional ability or something, not an Art, or create a new Art called Temporis or somesuch.

Hi Trab_aod,

did you check how many twilight points your hopeful magus would accumulate before succeeding with a breakthrough discovery like a new Tempus Art, breaking the Limit of Time?

Even pretty powerful magi like the Post Coch guys after 150 years had only an extremely slim chance to pull off such a thing. This is quite independent of the Arts involved: to attempt it with any chance of success and without a lot of guaranteed insight provided by a merciful storyguide requires a Magic Theory score at least around 50, an Enigmatic Wisdom of at least 7 and is even then likely to net the magus some 5 to 10 twilight points.

Kind regards,

Berengar

Hiya Trab_aod !!:)

In our game my character has made the discovery of Tempus, the art of time. But he had a hand in the study of time from some non-Hermetic friends of his, who over time allowed him to make the break through of a Hermetic art of Tempus (he also had a Hermetic friend help him who had also had made the breakthrough a very long time ago, but wouldn’t directly teach him how to create it or learn how, but would at times give helpful tips to follow).
In my characters view if you could look back and see things that had occurred in a certain place in the past (Eye's of the Past In/Im 15), he thought then what would stop me from actually being able to step back to what I can see via the spell. But when affecting time you must be aware of any changes that you make can and will affect the future, and for that he was granted a gift that would allow him to perceive disastrous affects that he may cause. This is a Faerie Power so would be hard if not impossible to get without the aid of the Fae.

If you have any questions you would like answered I will try my best to fill you in, but I did achieved this a fair while ago, so I can only tell you what I remember myself!
