I`d like to know why aren`t all the hermetic magi at +5 stm

It allows longer life, better casting totals and less sneezing :P

I'd drink that potion / undergo that ritual any time...

also much easier to do that than to make a potion for grogs .. simply give them stm and they shall live a long and happy life serving you ...

Hmmm this grog is especially good... I'll give him both longevity potion and stm potion ...

What do you all think about this ?

I need something to outbalance the befefits of the stm potion ...

Something like the spell description for the MuCo str which stipulates penalities for long term use. But I don`t see a stm potion giving maluses to stm after unless the target exerts himself on a long period ...

Help...

A Magus who doesn`t think +5 stm is a common thing amongst the order ...

This only happens if you don't enforce the Wizard's Grimoire's suggestion about drawbacks due to continuous/repetitive use. Then you can pretty much guarantee Sta +3 modifier to anyone (which btw does not mean that every Magus has Sta +5, unless you assume that all Magi star with Sta +2 or better - in our saga only one Magus would qualify for this).

Strenuous activity really should not be any requisite for the drawbacks. For his/her normal activity the recipient of the spell (or potion) uses the spell's mystical Stamina instead of his/her own -> the natural Stamina will certainly suffer.

Any magical benefit to a characteristic would need a major breakthrough to be able to use the Inst duration. Furthermore, any long-term exposure to a magical effect (over a season IMO) would result in magical warping, in the same way that living in a high magical aura causes mutations. I'd even argue that a potion or spell that increases stamina to +3/+5 would result in stripping the target of all of their natural stamina, and after a while, the body would begin to resist the spell, resulting in a stamina -3/-5 cripple, or worse.

*All* magic, applied for an extended period, has deleterious effects. The explanation that it makes you "dependent" on it is but one facet of the possible weaknesses which fate may inflict upon you.

Even our Longevity Potion, that most gentle ritual, most carefully attuned to our inner self - distorts us so that we lose our God-given Fertility, and become sterile creatures of magic.

Remember this, sodalis, and plan ahead...
