One simple question : Does the inv genius apply when re-inventing a spell from a lab text ?

It should, mainly in that you need to have a high enough lab total to invent the spell when using a lab text in the first place. So if by determining your lab total, your Inventive Genius brings it up to 1 point above the level of the effect, then you can both invent the effect, or use a lab text.

Inventive Genius does not provide a bonus to one's lab total for reproducing an effect from a lab text: that is quite clear from its wording: "... when you invent new spells, craft magic items and make potions". Also not for the "check whether his lab total exceeds the level of effect" from p.102. For this there is the separate virtue Adept Laboratory Student, which provides a +6 bonus.
