People have recommended the free rule book for you. You really should download and read it, then you could answer your own questions. You might go and buy the Fifth Edition as well, in my opinion it might be easier to learn for a new player. In 5th edition there are no point costs for the virtues or flaws, only minor and major costs, which are roughly equivalent with +1 and +3 virtues. By reading the rulebook, you can compare your idea with the virtues there. Same goes for your spell ideas, in both books (4th and 5th ed) there are good guidelines for different spells. There is also a good section of background, history and medieval life in both books - your library has even more books on the subject. //B
