This Week's Featured Character
IA, Starling Celestial Warlock
Played by Hannah Hodnett
Ia was part of a binary star system. After falling to Planegea as a result of the Dawn Duel -- another star blindsiding her as she and her counterpart Ai defended one another -- she's spent her few years trying to return to the sky.
She possesses a steadfast devotion to Ai, despite being a world apart. This devotion formed a pact between the two, with Ai -- as powerful as any great star in the heavens -- granting her some of his power. She uses that power to help the clan that took her in, caring Bears that they are.
Despite a constant pang of longing, Ia finds great joy on Planegea, and expresses herself with circle drumming with other musicians each night around the clan fire. She's come to care greatly for the clan, but every night she can be found outside, watching Ai dance alone, as she mimics his movements on the ground beneath him.
What do you like best about playing your character
"I love how free-spirited Ia is despite feeling like an oddball and being incredibly out of place. She cares about her party members and for Bear Clan as a whole, and does her best to keep them on their feet."
What directions do you see your character going as they level up?
"As Ia levels up, she'll continue to deepen her connection to her patron, Ai. That star is her love, and the fact that he's her patron is proof of concept that their connection didn't sever once she fell from the sky. I think she'll continue to use her abilities to help Bear Clan, but I don't see her faith wavering or her path changing from that of the class and subclass she has."
If your character survives the campaign, what's their dream retirement?
"The whole campaign?? She'd love to spend her retirement with her other half, her patron, Ai. She just doesn't know what that'll look like. If she's able to achieve that while still managing to help Bear Clan in some way, that's exactly what she'll do. She's dreamt of returning to the sky ever since she fell, and if she's able to do so and reunite with Ai, she'd be doing something while up there to continue helping Bear Clan."
