Visit Us at the WLSSD MRC Open House on Saturday!

Published by: John Nephew

The Western Lake Superior Sanitary District is hosting an open house at the Materials Recovery Center (4587 Ridgeview Rd, Duluth, MN 55803) on Saturday, September 16. Atlas Games president John Nephew (will be there all day, to show off some Replay Workshop products and techniques. In particular, he'll be running our benchtop plastic injection molder, making and giving away eight-sided dice right on location!

From the WLSSD's website, the Open House features:

  • Film plastic recycling education: did you know the MRC is a drop site for the NexTrex film plastic recycling program? Bring your grocery bags, zip-top bags, pallet wrap, bubble wrap, and other clean, stretchy, non-black film plastics and recycle them for free through this specialty program.
  • Live plastic recycling demonstrations: Atlas Games’ Replay Workshop will be on site, melting and molding typically unrecyclable plastics into game pieces and trinkets!
  • MRC tours: Join a WLSSD Environmental Program Coordinator at 9, 10, and 11 a.m. to learn about the facility’s operations and history.
  • Giveaways & raffle: take home free swag to help you reduce plastic film usage in your own life and enter a raffle for a 10-piece Green Pan PFAS-free, nonstick cookware set.
  • …And all the MRC’s usual services: bring your bulky waste (furniture, tires, mattresses), appliances, tires, electronics, fluorescent bulbs, scrap metal, and more for disposal to access the Product Reuse Area (aka “Free Store”). Learn what materials the MRC accepts and check disposal costs at: https://wlssd.com/…/using-the-materials-recovery-center/

I hope to see you there!
