Years of Conquest: Not This Year
The kickstarter campaign for Ars Magica: Years of Conquest earned 1,503 backers and an impressive $92,848 in pledges. Unfortunately, that fell short of the $290,000 goal needed to make the video game envisioned by Black Chicken Studios.
There is a chance that BCS may revisit this project sometime in the future, but now they are going to move ahead with other projects.
I'd like to take a moment to thank everyone who backed the Kickstarter, told their friends, talked it up on social media and internet forums, and generally found themselves as excited about the game as I did. I'd also like to thank David Chart, the Ars Magica line editor, for working with the video game developers as they refined their plans. And, of course, I must thank Black Chicken Studios for being so enthusiastic about Ars Magica, and putting forward an exciting and innovative vision for how our tabletop game could be translated to the computer screen. While Ars Magica: Years of Conquest may not be in BCS' future, I am personally looking forward to all the other projects they'll bring forward in the the future.
