What is the Planegea Open License?
- The Star Shaman's Song of Planegea is the Stone Age 5E setting book originally released under the Open Game License Version 1.0a. At the time, we withheld as Product Identity things like the word Planegea, proper names, etc. We're now releasing previously claimed Product Identity for it as Open Content under the same license, so that Planegea fans can release their own material, whether for free or paid, explicitly set the Planegea world.
- We've created a new Planegea Open License logo, to let fans identify their work as Open License material for Planegea. You are permitted but not required to use this logo.
- There is no special Planegea System Reference Document (SRD). The full text of the released books may be extracted from PDFs available for sale on our webstore.
- The Open Content is the TEXT of the setting book. It does not include the trade dress, graphic design, artwork, cartography, or other trademarks/logos besides those specified on this webpage.
- Interested parties may contact Atlas Games about licensing Planegea outside of the open license.

What Does This Mean for Planegea?
Atlas Games has had the amazing opportunity to publish Planegea, supported by its vibrant fan community. We feel it's time to give back to our fans, and let them take the game in new directions we haven't had the resources to explore. We want to make it possible for fans and third parties to create and share, commercially or otherwise, material that is explicitly compatible with the Planegea setting.
Changing the Product Identity designation is a small thing, but it vastly simplifies the use of Planegea setting in derivative works. And the trademark permissions and new Planegea Open License logo make it easy for creators to notify their audience of compatibility.
Can you tell me if this specific thing I want to do is OK?
No, sorry. We encourage you to read the license, and
to seek your own legal counsel as necessary if you still have questions.
Our goal is to keep things simple and straightforward, to encourage
creators to proceed without special permission from us. However, we can
take no responsibility for the actions of third parties or speak to the
interpretations of copyright and trademark law across all the
jurisdictions of the world. We're not lawyers, are not offering legal
advice, etc.
